More often than not, it comes down to “near-match” infrared lamps. Here’s the problem: when you mix and match lamps with slightly different wattages or voltage tolerances, you get uneven heating. It sounds like a small detail, but in a high-speed oven, it’s a nightmare. We build our replacement lamps for Chumpower and SIPA systems to be identical. No guessing. Just 100% consistency across the whole bank. Why a few watts actually matter You might think a 5% difference in wattage isn’t a big deal. But that tiny gap changes how the heat hits the plastic. In a fast rotary machine, this creates “cold spots.” Your PLC can’t fix that on the fly. If you pop in a 250W lamp where the machine expects 270W, the preform won’t hit that critical glass transition temperature fast enough. The result? You have to slow down your entire cycle just to get the bottles right. That’s lost money. Built for the grind We use high-purity quartz glass because these things take a beating. The thermal shock of rapid cycling is brutal, and cheap glass just doesn’t cut it. Inside, the filaments are dialed in for short-wave infrared. It doesn’t just sit on the surface; it sinks deep into the PET material, faster. And we kept the installation dead simple. Whether you need R7s or SK15 connectors, these are drop-in replacements. One last thing: Check your sockets Now, it’s tempting to just throw in higher wattage lamps to handle heavy-wall preforms. Just be careful. More power puts more stress on your electrical contactors. Before you slide in a new lamp, take a second to look at the sockets. If they look charred or corroded, stop. Corrosion creates resistance, which creates a bottleneck. If you ignore a dirty socket, you’ll probably burn through your brand-new lamp way faster than it should. Keep the contacts clean, and your power match will stay dialed in.
