A bit of honest shop-floor advice High-wattage shortwave lamps put out an incredible amount of heat. It’s great for your output, but it’s hard on your cooling blowers. If your ventilation is clogged with gunk, these lamps will overheat the housing no matter how perfect the power match is. While you’re at it, give your reflectors a good clean. Dust on the mirror blocks the heat from hitting the preform, which forces you to crank the lamps higher than they need to go. Keep it clean, use the right wattage, and your lamps will actually last.
