If you’re running a SIG Blomax 6 or a Krones Contiform line, you know the drill. Getting that preform heating consistent is everything. It all comes down to how those IR wavelengths hit the plastic. But here’s the annoying part: OEM lamp costs can skyrocket. When that happens, you need a replacement that just works. You want something that drops right in, matches the wattage, and keeps your cycle moving without a hitch. The nitty-gritty on power These lamps pull a lot of voltage to get PET heating fast. We make sure our tubes match the exact resistance of the original parts. Why? Because if the current draw isn’t stable, you’re asking for trouble. You’ll end up with “cold spots” in your preforms or, even worse, the material overheats and gets that cloudy, hazy look. Nobody wants that. Glass, gas, and the fit We use high-purity quartz because these things go through a lot of thermal shock. They heat up and cool down fast. To keep the tungsten filament from burning out too quickly, we use a halogen gas fill. It just lasts longer. Most of these use R7s or Sk15 connectors. They’re standard, sure, but we’re obsessive about the tolerances. We make sure the fit is snug in the oven rack. If a connection is loose, it arcs. And once it arcs, your socket is toast. A few things to keep in mind High-wattage short-wave lamps put out a massive amount of heat. That’s the only way to keep up with the speed of a Blomax 6. But there’s a catch. You’ve got to keep your oven reflectors clean. If they’re pitted or dirty, the lamp has to fight harder to hit the target temperature. That wears out the filament way faster than it should.
