
Keeping Bathrooms Warm Without the Risks
Let’s be honest: heating a bathroom is a bit of a balancing act. You want it to feel cozy—especially when you’re stepping out of a shower into a cold room—but you’re dealing with a lot of steam and splashing water. That’s where things get tricky. We build our infrared heaters with an IP65 rating, which is just a fancy way of saying they can handle the wet environment without shorting out. But the real challenge isn’t just keeping the water out. It’s making sure the light isn’t too harsh on the eyes, particularly for babies. The glare problem Ever looked at a standard infrared lamp? They’re blinding. It’s a harsh, aggressive light that you just don’t want in your face first thing in the morning. To fix this, we use special quartz envelopes and internal coatings. Think of it like a pair of sunglasses for the heater. It blocks out that high-energy blue light and the blinding glare, but lets the warmth slide right through. You get the heat on your skin, but the light stays soft and gentle. It’s just better for your eyes. Keeping the guts dry Water and electricity are a terrible mix. To make sure the internals stay bone-dry, we use tempered glass seals and high-temperature silicone gaskets. But the housing matters too. If you use the wrong materials, the heat will eventually melt or warp the seals, and then you’ve got a leak. We stuck with die-cast aluminum and heat-resistant polymers because they pull the heat away from the electronics. It keeps the whole thing stable. A few tips for installation Most of these are designed to drop right into the spot where an old halogen lamp used to be. We kept the footprint small so they actually fit in standard ceiling mounts. One thing to watch out for: these units pack a lot of heat into a small space. Give them some breathing room. If you mount them too close to something flammable, the thermal cutoff will kick in and shut the whole thing down. Also, make sure you wire it to a GFCI circuit. It’s the standard for wet zones, and it’s the only way to do it safely.
